Emily Irene VanCamp who initially wanted to become a professional dancer became interested in acting after visiting her sister Katie on the set of the movie Ladies Room. Alongside studying acting she was also offered a guest spot on a show that aired in Canada. Some of the shows that she had appeared in, besides other ones were Are You Afraid of the Dark? Radio Active and Dice. VanCamp had a career breakthrough after he was cast on the WB horror-mystery series Glory Days as Sam Dolan. Although the show received positive reviews, its low ratings led to it being ended after nine short episodes. The May 12th, 1986 actress quickly secured another part in Everwood. The character she plays Amy Abbott is one of the main characters. For this part, it was that she was nominated by the Young Artist Award, and she also won the four Teen Choice Awards.
